The OECD rejects Italian school. According to numerous data contained in the report entitled Education at a Glance 2006 (look on Education 2006), the national education system is too expensive when compared to the poor results that can be produced. An inefficient system in substance that requires a thorough facelift. School, post-secondary education and universities trudging along, churning out students who can not stand comparison with peers of the other 30 member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and graduates often remain unemployed. But the weighty volume of 465 pages full of charts, graphs and numbers published a few days ago (with data updated to 2004), through the comparison between the different education systems in different countries, allows possible to identify some of the ills afflicting the Italian school and also a possible way out.
